5fun and educational
By AC
I got the older version of this laptop for my son when he was about 9 months, to keep his attention away from my own laptop. It worked, and more than that, by 19 months he was recognizing and saying all the letters. The old one was extremely shock resistant and the handle was a nice feature, however, after spilling water over the keyboard half of the keys stopped working. Therefore I got this newer version that has also the typing feature and I also got one for our friends’ son, who enjoys it as well.
One observation though… my son is now 21 months and although this was his favorite toy for almost a year, his interest seems to be decreased lately.. I would probably recommend this for 1-4 years olds.

5Great for a 1-2 year old
By C. Dowdy
We tried several toy laptops in the store, and we liked this one the best. It includes a mode to teach letters, both uppercase and lowercase, and a “Phonics” game to test knowledge of the letters, among other features. Our daughter, who is less than two years old, can already recognize most of the letters thanks to this laptop. The Phonics game keeps her entertained for a long time. She also likes to press the color-change button and see the different colored screens. I’m hoping that she will continue to explore its other features, like the Numbers mode. It is easy to use; she just turns it on and starts playing. It remembers the last mode that was played, so there is no need to select one before starting. Overall, I am very pleased with this toy and consider it one of our best toy purchases.

This toy may only be considered safe for 3-year-olds and up, but we have not had a problem. The laptop, including the mousepad and mouse, are one big piece. None of the parts have come off of the laptop, even though our daughter is quite rough with it. She has even dribbled quite a bit of milk onto the keyboard, and it still works just fine. The mouse is attached to the mousepad, which in turn is attached to the laptop, so there are no cords to worry about.

The mouse is a little difficult to use, and my daughter has some trouble with it. It will only “click” straight up-and-down or left-and-right, in addition to its single button. However, I suspect a different design would have made it less durable or less safe, so I didn’t count off stars for this. You should be aware, however, that the Numbers mode and the Games mode require use of the mouse. The other modes can be used with just the keyboard.

It is also interesting that the letters are arranged on the keyboard in A-B-C order, not in a QWERTY pattern. I consider this an advantage, because she will need to learn the alphabet before learning to type. Unfortunately, there are no numbers on the keyboard. That is one feature that would have been a good addition.

I recommend this laptop if you want something that is both entertaining and educational for a young toddler. As I have noted, it is especially good for teaching the letters. However, if your child is already good at letters and you’re looking for a toy that teaches whole words, numbers, or real typing, this is not the best option.

5A big hit with a little girl.
By Darqstar
This was purchased as a Christmas gift for my 4 year old great niece and was an instant hit. Both her parents have laptops, so she was happy to finally have her own lap top. It’s recommended for ages 3-7, so it should stay with her a long time. She figured out many of the games quickly and was enjoying playing.

It comes with batteries already installed, but do yourself a favor and pick up another package. The batteries were almost gone by the time she opened the gift. It takes 3 AA’s.
